1.speculate v．思索，推测：投机，做投机生意
【记】词根记忆：spec(看)+ul+ate一看来看去一推测
【例】The detective story is boring,because you can speculate about the ending when you start reading.
这个侦探故事很没意思，因为从一开始你就能推断出它的结局。
Many people speculared in stocks and gained lots of money.
