美国音乐
Popular music in America is what every student likes. Students carry small radios with earphones and listen to music before class, after class and at lunch. Students with cars buy large speakers and play the music loudly as they drive on the street.
在美国，流行音乐是每个学生都喜欢的。学生们带上有耳机的袖珍收音机，在课前、课后、午餐期间听音乐。有汽车的学生买上大扩音器，在他们驾车行驶在街道上的时候，把音乐放得山响。
Adult drivers listen to music on the car radio as they drive to work. They also listen to news about sports, the weather, and the life of American people. Most of the radio programmes are music.
成年司机在开车去工作的时候，收听车载收音机里的音乐。他们也听体育新闻、天气预报和美国人的生活节目。收音机的大部分节目是音乐。
Pop or popular music singers make much money. They make a CD or tape which radio stations use in many places. Once the popular music singer is heard all over the country, young people buy his or her tape. Some of the money from these tapes comes to the singer. Wherever the singer goes, all the young people want to meet him or her. Now the singer has become a national star.
流行音乐的歌手挣很多钱。他们灌制唱片或磁带，许多地方的电台都播放。一旦哪位流行歌手的音乐在全国被广泛收听，年轻人就买他或她的磁带。这些磁带的部分收人归歌手所有。无论歌手到哪里，所有年轻人都想去见他或她。这么一来，这个歌手就成了全国的歌星。
There are other kinds of music that are important to Americans. One is called folk music. It tells stories about the common life of Americans. Another is called western or country music. This was shared by cowboys who would sing at night to the cows they were watching. Today, any music about country life and the love between a country boy and his girl is called western or country music.
还有一些别的种类的音乐，对美国人是很重要的，其中一种叫民间音乐。这种音乐描述美国人的日常生活。另外一种叫作西部或乡村音乐。这种音乐为牛仔分享，他们在夜间对自己看的牛群歌唱。如今，任何关于乡村生活或乡村男孩和女孩爱情的音乐，都叫西部音乐或乡村音乐。
