12 富兰克林和地下室 Franklin'S CELLAR
Franklin could count by twos and tie his shoes . he could use his imagination to make the moon smile and the clouds look like animals. But one day Franklin imagined something that he wished would go away. That’s the problem with grape jam.
It’s so good .
We’re always running out!
Don’t worry, Franklin.
There’s lots more in the cellar.
Good!
Lots more is what I need!
He does like to spread it on thick I’ve noticed.
I wonder who taught him that?
Hmmm… bear maybe?
Why does the light have to be at the bottom of the stairs?
What was that?
Someone else can get the jam.
Huh?
Oooo, it’s the scary stairs.
Why do cellars have to be so strange all the time?
w-w- what’s that?
Huh?
Heh?
It’s only Christmas decorations.
There are no such things as monsters.
Everybody knows that.
Ahhh.
Franklin?
Are you all right?
There’s a monster in the cellar.
Oh, what did it look like?
I couldn’t see it.
But it sounds big and hungry.
Was it a gurgling, glug, glug, glug sort of sound?
Yeah.
Did you hear it too?
Oh,yes.
What you heard down there was our prehistoric water heater.
Oh.
Is that what it was.
I guess you think I’m being silly, don’t you?
No we don’t.
But monsters aren’t real.
And I’m still afraid of them.
Your imagination makes monsters seem real.
I don’t like my imagination.
Your imagination is a great thing,Franklin.
It’s how you create wonderful ideas.
Hmmm.
Then I don’t like cellars.
I don’t either.
They’re damp and dark…
And full of strange little noises.
But when you have as many things as we do.
You’ve got to put them somewhere.
Dad, if you get me some more jam, I’ll make you some toast.
Sure.
And I’ll help.
No. that’s okay Mom.
Dad showed me how to make toast so that it tastes good right out to the edges!
Hurry up!
Yeah, I’m getting soaked!
Hurry,Beaver, open the door.
Why do these things always happen when my team’s winning?
What do we do now?
Get out the fur-drier!
We need a good indoor game.
Hey , I know what we can play!
Hide-and –go-seek!
Not it!
Thirty eight…thirty nine, forty!
Ready or not, here I come.
Hmmm..
Gee, I wonder where Goose could be hiding.
1,2,3 on..
huh?
Haaa
Hmmm…
Ahhh..
You didn’t say Goose!
Ah!
Home free!
Ah…
Gee, Franklin.
You sure get scared easily.
No I don’t.
I hope Bear doesn’t frighten you too.
You might jump right out of your shell.
You guys just surprised me, that’s all.
Nothing scares me.
I wonder where he is?
I think I know where Bear’s hiding.
In the cellar.
Uh… I don’t think so.
How do you know if you don’t look?
Yeah, you should look.
You don’t want to be it all day.
Alright, I’ll look.
No , I don’t see him.
Are you scared to go down there?
No … I just don’t know where the light is.
I don’t like cellars very much.
I knew it.
Come on Goose.
We’ll show Franklin that cellars are nothing to be afraid of.
I don’t like going in the cellar either.
It gives me goose bumps.
I’m waiting.
See?
It’s just an ordinary cellar.
An ordinary cellar?
….with fish swimming outside?
We’re below water , that’s all.
There’s nothing to worry about down here.
There’s the furnace, the washing machine, the exercise bike and the storage cupboard.
It’s not the things I can see that bother me…
It’s the things I can’t see.
What can’t you see, Franklin?
You know.
Things that hide in the dark corners and surprise you.
Do you mean , things like …monsters?
Goose?
Not you too?
Come on guys, everyone knows that monsters are just in your imagination..
What’s that over there?
What?
Alright Bear.
You can come out now.
It’s not me. I’m over here.
Aaaah!
There’s no way I’m going in my cellar again.
I’m not going in mine either.
Not after yesterday.
What am I supposed to do?
Our freezer is in the cellar.
No more ice cream?
Not unless my mom or dad get it for me.
I’m not going down there.
And I can’t even get my own grape jam.
Hey!
I can see a camel.
What?
Huh?
A camel?
Up there.
That cloud….
There’s the head.
And there are some humps…
Oh yeah. And I see a shark over there.
I see it.
Me too.
You can make up all kinds of things if you use your imagination.
Yeah.
Your imagination makes monsters seem real.
Your imagination is a great thing, Franklin.
It’s how you create wonderful ideas.
That’s right.
Like how to get rid of monsters.
Huh?
Get rid of monsters?
What are you talking about, Franklin?
We just used our imaginations to create animals.
And monsters are just imaginary too.
Right?
Yeah.
Uh…
That’s right.
So let’s use our imaginations to get rid of them.
Come on.
This is going to be fun!
Okay… wait up Franklin.
Monster lasers on full power.
Let’s get ‘em.
Look out monsters!
Here we come!
We’ve got you cornered!
I’m coming!
There you are!
There is one over there.
No problem.
GOTCHA!
Aha, get ‘im!
Aha, watch out! Gotcha!
Oh….hi dad.
Oh my!
Thank you for getting rid of those monsters for me.
No problem, Mom.
It was fun.
We did all of our cellars!
It was great!
So it sounds like you’ve overcome your fear of cellars.
Oh,yeah.
It just took a little imagination.
Ready to go guys?
I’m ready.
Me too.
Let’s go!
Where are you going?
To Mr. Mole’s house. Maybe he’s got monsters in his cellar.
Wait up guys.
